Bradford on Avon Flower Show returns to St Margaret’s Hall

There was a really good turnout for the 2014 Bradford on Avon Flower Show which returned to St Margaret’s Hall after the renovations. Thank you to everyone who entered and turned up on the day in support.

The Tour of Britain 2014 comes to Bradford on Avon




The Tour of Britain ride goes through Bradford on Avon at approximately 10.50 on the 12th September.  In Westbury Gardens there will be stalls all day and there will be displays by M.A.D. (Mountainbike Ariel Display Stunt Team) in the afternoon between 4pm and 7pm.  There will also be a BBQ in Westbury Gardens and you can bring your bike along to be serviced by TT Cycles.

There will be an amazing human sculpture in the form of a giant bicycle with moving wheels at Hartley Farm, Winsley at 10.30 in the morning which will be filmed from above and shown in more than 100 countries worldwide.  Anyone wishing to take part can email Bradford on Avon Town Council on townclerk@bradfordonavontowncouncil.gov.uk for more information.  They must be able to attend a rehearsal on Wednesday 10th at 11.00am.
                                                                                                                                    
On Saturday 13th September  there will be a screening of the film 'The Flying Scotsman' at St Margaret's Hall, Bradford on Avon, The Flying Scotsman is a 2006 British drama film, based on the life and career of Scottish amateur cyclist Graeme Obree.  Doors open at 7.30pm and the film starts at 8pm.  Please note it is a classification 15.  This is a free event but to reserve a ticket please go to the Town Council website (www.bradfordonavontowncouncil.gov.uk) and follow the link for more information.

From Sunday 7th to Sunday 14th September there will be a 'Moulton Bicycle - Past & Future' display in ‘Made in Bradford on Avon’ Vaults.


Also on Sunday 14th September cyclists will be setting out to raise money for Stepping Stones, the local centre for children with special needs, by cycling the scenic Kennet and Avon canal from Bradford on Avon to Bath and beyond.  The cyclists taking part in George’s Marvellous Bike Ride will start from The Barge Inn, Bradford on Avon. With three possible routes available from 18 miles to 36 miles, the event suits riders of all abilities.  For more information visit the website: www.georgesmarvellousbikeride.org.uk

FILM: The Flying Scotsman (15)



On Saturday 13th September to continue the celebrations of the Tour of Britain coming through Bradford on Avon the Town Council will be screening The Flying Scotsman. The Flying Scotsman is a 2006 British drama film, based on the life and career of Scottish amateur cyclist Graeme Obree.  The film covers the period of Obree's life that saw him take, lose, and then retake the world one-hour distance record.  The film stars Jonny Lee Miller as Obree, Laura Fraser, Billy Boyd and Brian Cox.  Please note that this film has a classification rating 15.

Doors open at 7:30pm 
Film starts at 8:00pm

This is a free event however please book a ticket. Names will be held on the door.
